Leon Somov & Jazzu

Dear Geneva Mix Tape… A little slice of music heaven where we will share with you the bands that are coming to Geneva and what we are listening to.

As part of the launch party for le Bal des Créateurs we were treated to a live performance by the supremely talented Leon Somov & Jazzu. From Lithuania, they describe their style as “Breath taking electronica, inspiring pop simplicity, and unexpected jazz variations, spiced up by warm and sensual vocal tones.”

Their performance last night was fabulous and as a result we have not stopped listening to their new album “Score”.

Dear Geneva were lucky enough to have a quick interview with the band about their time in Geneva and some of their favorite sights so far.

How long have you been in Geneva?
This is our third day.

Have you been able to have a little look around?
We have done a little bit, not any real sight seeing as such, but we have had a walk around.

What has been your favorite thing so far?
The Old Town is beautiful and I love all the cafes, but we are staying in Salève and it is so beautiful to wake up every morning with the view and all the beautiful valleys.

Have you managed to sneak in a quick fondue?
Yes we have, we went to this little restaurant in Salève called L’auberge des Montagnards. The restaurant is really nice, it is very simple inside and the food is really good quality, it was nice to try some Swiss cuisine.

What do you like best about Geneva?
The fact the city is surrounded my nature.

Make sure to check out Leon Somov & Jazzu on facebook and have a listen to some of their amazing tunes, they will be the soundtrack to our weekend… We hope you enjoy!

Nice blog – I’ve now bookmarked it as I’ve only been in Geneva for three months and would love to know more about the ‘local’ side of things (I found you via glocals – my own blog is at: http://www.blurbfromtheburbs.blogspot.com) – au revoir!
